Madeleine deClare is fifteen, too tall, too red-headed and too poor. Were she rich, her height and fiery hair would go unremarked. Were she rich, she would be in Bellham, dressed in fine gowns, dancing at balls and flirting with eligible suitors. Instead, she is stuck at deClare castle with her silly sister Juliana, and their mother, the Baroness. Since Madeleine's father died, the estate has fallen to ruin. The future looks bleak and the only salvation for the deClares is the proposed marriage between Madeleine and her odious cousin Alfred.
It seems as if Madeleine's life is over before it ever started.
All that changes when the Earl of Beaumont and his friend Sir Richard, arrive at the castle. Madeleine assumes the Earl has come to court Juliana. Her sister's beauty is renowned throughout the county. As far as Madeleine is concerned, that's fine. The Earl is handsome, but he is proud and painfully condescending. Madeleine can't resist helping the Earl understand that at least one of the deClares doesn't give two figs about him, or his good opinion.
But what happens when Madeleine realizes she may have been slightly mistaken about the Earl? Or more than slightly mistaken? And she realizes it too late.
In a romantic comedy of who loves who, everyone in the castle works at cross purposes until all, especially Madeleine, finally understand their own heart.
Madeleine eBook Caroline St Vincent
I would read this book again it was not that bad . Yes it does need editing but overall pretty good. It is a short story so the story lacks some depth like most short storie . I thought it was a cute love story. It is pride and prejudice style format. Overall not bad.Product details

Madeleine eBook Caroline St Vincent Reviews
Madeleine is a very young women living in a castle or manor house. Her Father is deceased and her mother is useless. She cannot manage the estate and they are i dire need of money. She plans to marry off her blonde daughter to someone rich so she can repair her home. Her younger daughter, Madeleine is destined to marry her silly cousin for the same reason. Of course, she is strong willed and refuses. A romance book that does not have the main characters liking each other on meeting. But the earl is as strong willed as she is. This was a fun book to read.
I don't why there are all these bad review; I didn't think it was that bad. I really enjoyed and wasn't bored at any point. There were scenes that had me laughing as well. This was a short one so don't expect a long story with lots of character development.
The characters are very flat, they have close to no personality.
I love historical romance, so when I had read the book description I said "Sure why not."
Madeleine's sister is suppose to be the beauty queen every man yearns for, why Madeleine is just the ugly duckling that sits at the side.
Her sister is so annoying that she was one of the reason that I could not finish the book.
Please don't waste your time.
This book needs additional editing. The overall story was good. I think more depth could have been added by sharing other characters point of view as part of the story.
I didn't think that this book was going to be so interesting but it was alright. The characters are fine with the emphasis on the hero and heroine but it is a short story. The plot is the usual, two sister, one beautiful, one smart.
I would read this book again it was not that bad . Yes it does need editing but overall pretty good. It is a short story so the story lacks some depth like most short storie . I thought it was a cute love story. It is pride and prejudice style format. Overall not bad.
